At sunset (or during fireworks), the view of Cinderella Castle and the rest of Magic Kingdom is one of the best vistas in the entire Disney property. The hotel has one of the all-time best dining experiences on the property, California Grill, on the 14th floor of the main building. Of the three, the Contemporary is the most convenient, because the Magic Kingdom monorail runs through the middle of the building and there’s also a walking path to the park. The resorts on the monorail loop-Contemporary, Polynesian Village, and Grand Floridian-are the premier resorts on property, not just because of their proximity to Magic Kingdom, but because of their spectacular views of the fireworks and access to boating and fishing on Seven Seas Lagoon. Swan Reserve has a Mediterranean restaurant and a rooftop events space, in addition to extensive meeting space and a state-of-the-art fitness center.īusy resort with many non-guests on the propertyĭisney’s Contemporary Resort dates back to 1971 and is one of two original hotels in the Walt Disney World complex. The expansion of this property, which is in the Marriott network and not owned by Disney, is geared towards adult travelers who want a quieter experience as a counterpart to the hustle and bustle of the parks. The Swan Reserve is an upscale addition to the property with a boutique hotel feel. Swan and Dolphin also has a Mandara Spa and offers its guests discounts on the three courses at Walt Disney World Golf. Inside, the hotel has 18 dining and drinking spots, including a restaurant from Todd English and Disney’s only karaoke lounge. The complex has a private lagoon between the two buildings, a sand beach, and a network of pools and hot tubs-and that’s just on the outside. The Swan and Dolphin, on the Crescent Lake that connects Epcot and Hollywood Studios, is already an excellent choice for a Disney World resort stay. However, Skyliner access allows guests to quickly hop over to the resorts near Epcot for more extensive dining options. There is one cafeteria-style quick service restaurant in the lobby building, one pool bar at the large pool, and limited room service in the form of evening pizza delivery. While Art of Animation is great at accommodating families at value pricing, that means that this hotel doesn’t have amenities like sit-down restaurants or character dining. The "Finding Nemo" area at the center of the property features the Big Blue Pool, a gorgeous ocean-inspired swimming area with statues of Nemo and his friends. The "Cars" area is themed like the Cozy Cone Motel and features statues of characters light Lightning McQueen and Mater, and a themed pool. "The Lion King" area features its own Pride Rock. "The Little Mermaid" area has a smaller themed pool and enormous, 35-foot-tall statues of King Triton, Ursula, and Ariel. There are four distinct areas of Art of Animation, each themed to a beloved Disney film. This sprawling property features two kinds of rooms: standard value studios that sleep up to four people and family suites that sleep up to six. Because Riviera has a Skyliner stop, this hotel has especially quick access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios on the new aerial gondola system.įor a hotel that truly makes you feel like you’re in a Disney movie, choose Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. By day, Le Petite Café is a coffee shop by night it becomes a cocktail lounge. Three restaurants range from fine character dining at Topolino’s Terrace, a rooftop restaurant that has views of the Hollywood Studios fireworks when they’re happening, to quick service at Primo Piatto and Bar Riva, the poolside bar serving small plates. The smallest rooms are Tower Studios which feature pull-down queen Murphy beds and mini-kitchenettes, and the largest are three-bedroom suites with full kitchens and in-room washers and dryers. The hotel’s luxury feel starts the moment you walk into the gleaming white lobby with its view of the lake beyond and extends to the furthest corners of the resort’s outdoor spaces, where you’ll find gorgeous inlaid murals of scenes from Disney movies like "Tangled." But overall, the resort feels more like a luxury hotel than a Disney-themed one. Inspired by Walt Disney’s vacations to the South of France, Disney’s Riviera Resort is the newest Walt Disney World hotel that opened towards the end of 2019.
